Sri Lanka Dialog Launches Children's Package

July 15, 2008 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Dialog Telekom has started a mobile phone package for kids with child safety features, world filtering, restricted text messaging (SMS) and features to increase parental control over their child's phone, the company said.
Dialog said the package, dubbed 'Kidz Connection' has no picture exchange or internet surfing facility for child safety and calls can be restricted to five numbers chosen by the parent at the time of signing up.

The parent will also get a copy of each text message sent or received by the child.

"Our main goal in launching this package was to promote responsible mobile use, whilst keeping the benefits of mobile communication," Dialog chief operating officer Supun Weerasinghe said in a statement.

"We incorporated several special features to the Kidz Connection with the goal of making the package more secure and safe to be used by children."
The connection is issued under a parent's name.
