The two competing 4G wirless systems, Wimax and LTE (Long Term Evolution) offers wide area broadband network connection designed for mobile devices.
Both considered to be broadly similar to each other with a long-range wireless connection ranging from 3 to 5 kilometers.
Wimax is backed by Intel and has won support from computer industry, because its roots lie with wi-fi.
On the other hand, LTE is a technology based on existing mobile network and has a broad support from handset manufacturers and mobile network carriers like Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Orange, T-Mobile, NTT, China Mobile...
LTE is seen as a evolution to existing 3G network and faster and long-distance compared to 3G, with a range between 3 to 5 kilometers and expected to offer higher speed peaking at 100Mbps download and 50Mbps upload.
